The Duke and Dutches of Sussex’ pledge foundation will reach zero carbon emissions by 2030

The Archewell Foundation has committed to cut its carbon emissions to net-zero over the next few years. In a statement on the foundation’s website, they explain the path they intend to take; “Nearly every activity in daily life results in the release of carbon into the atmosphere, and the sum total of those emissions is considered our ‘carbon footprint.’

While we have actively made choices to offset and balance this carbon footprint, now, with the tools provided by partner organizations, we know that we can all do better. We can be net zero, and this is what we pledge to do.”

Twelve of the UK’s media brands agree to new climate pledge.

Twelve of the UK’s top media brands including the BBC, Channel 4, ITV, and Sky plan to create more content that reflects the realities of climate change. The agreement states they will increase the quality and quantity of their climate change storytelling across all genres.

Channel 4 chief executive Alex Mahon said “We have to do it in the right way, in a way that is not lecturing or hectoring, but we can do that in a way that makes massive, massive impact on the UK.”

Greenhouse gasses could be cut by 12% using a standardised global pollution ‘tax’

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) scheme, which the report analysed, would charge companies with high greenhouse gas emissions differently depending on the country’s GDP. High-income countries would have to pay $75 per tonne of CO2 emitted, middle-income countries would pay $50 a tonne, and low-income countries would pay $25 per tonne. The price of carbon currently varies vastly from $0 to more than $130 per tonne.

Bob Moritz, global chair at PwC, said setting a global carbon price could make a “significant contribution to tackling global warming by accelerating emissions reductions”.
